Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic artist, performer and composer. He combines jazz from the soul genre with R&B to create a unique mixture. Avery Sunshine has performed on Broadway and at festivals in Europe as well as performing at Democratic National Convention. Sunshine's name is Denise White. Although she is based in Atlanta, her roots are situated in Chester Pennsylvania. There she first began to develop a musical career performing and singing at the church. In Atlanta she was a student at Spellman College where her musical education began in Atlanta's R&B Scene. The year 2005 saw Tyler Perry hired her as the primary keyboardist in his stage show Meet the Browns. In 2007, Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to become the choral director for the theatrical production of Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine received national attention for four daily performances during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. Sunshine was chosen to perform as part of Obama's inaugural ceremony in 2009.
